I am a hurricane of creativity
This is a rayon-linen blend that I dyed using a technique that is called ARASHI, or, pole-wrapping. After the length of fabric was bound, I painted on the dye (after I thickened it with sodium glucosamate), rather than submerging it in a traditional dye-bath. This is a new way of achieving color that I have been experimenting with, and I'm quite thrilled with the outcome every time.
Arashi- means "storm" in Japanese. This is quite fitting, because the patterns achieved are similar to that of what a hurricane looks like from above.
This is one of many pieces I have dyed in this fashion, so more posts to come!
